Sportstar Academy opened its doors eleven years ago as a Tennis Academy for Jewish boys providing the seven original campers with five hours of professional tennis instruction daily together with Torah study, davening, kosher food, and other activities. The camp quickly grew to 70 campers the next summer with the addition of an option for professional basketball instruction. That number doubled the following year and more sports were added. By its tenth summer, Sportstar was offering options of two weeks of instruction in basketball, tennis, flag football, soccer, baseball, soccer, and golf. The camp then grew beyond sports instruction to include wilderness and culinary.
For the Summer of 2010, the intensive five day Sportstar Academy program will include a girls program for all the specialties mentioned above with the addition of art, ceramics, aerobics (girls only) and dance(girls only).
